Price A Job CSV Import Errors and Fixes

Trades Panel checks the file when you add it and again when you click Send to AI, Import CSV or, in Condensed mode, Continue. If any row has a problem, nothing is imported. Fix the file in your spreadsheet, save it as a CSV and add it again.

Row numbers in a message count the header as row 1, so Row 3 is line 3 of your spreadsheet.

Missing required columns

The message reads Invalid CSV format: Missing required columns: followed by the column names.

Add or rename those columns so the first row contains all eight: Module Title, Resource Title, Resource Type, Tradesperson, Quantity, Unit, Rate and Total Cost. Capital letters do not matter, and extra columns are ignored.

Invalid Resource Type

The message reads Row 3: Invalid Resource Type: Plant and Tool. Must be 'Labour', 'Materials', or 'Plant & Tool'.

Resource Type must be exactly Labour, Materials or Plant & Tool, written with an ampersand. Change any other value, including Other, to one of the three.

If every row has this problem, the message reads No valid rows found in CSV file instead.

A number is missing or not a number

The message reads Row 3: Quantity is required, Row 3: Total Cost is required or Row 3: Rate must be a valid number, got: £20.00.

Quantity, Rate and Total Cost must each hold a plain number on every row. Remove currency symbols and words such as POA. Commas in a figure are fine. If you formatted these columns as currency in a spreadsheet, change them back to plain numbers before saving.

Invalid unit for labour

The message starts Invalid unit for labour: and names the unit.

Export the estimate from Price A Job again with Labour only in hours selected in its quote export settings. A labour row's Unit must be hour, day or each.

A labour item is missing Tradesperson

The message reads Labour item "Excavate trenches by hand" is missing Tradesperson.

Enter a trade name in the Tradesperson column of that labour row, such as Groundworker. Condensed mode does not use this column, so it never shows this message.

A row is missing from the quote

A row with an empty Module Title or Resource Title is skipped without a message. Fill in both and import the file again.
