Every contact in Trades Panel is either a Lead or a Customer. The label shows on the contact's record, and on the Contacts list.
What makes a contact a Lead
A contact is a Lead when it is created. That applies to contacts you add by hand, in bulk, while creating a quote, or from a website enquiry.
What makes a contact a Customer
A contact becomes a Customer when a job is raised for it. That happens when you:
- create a job for the contact, or
- convert one of its quotes to a job.
Sending a quote does not change it. A contact you have quoted stays a Lead until a job exists.
There is no setting to change a contact between Lead and Customer by hand, and a Customer does not go back to being a Lead.
Where it makes a difference
- The Contacts list: the Leads and Customers filter. See Add and Manage Contacts.
- The contact's record: the label beside the contact's name.
